Indian Cricket Has A Balanced Team In The World Cup

The game of Cricket is not as popular as football, but in countries where the game is played, it is very big. Cricket in India is a huge affair and fans are crazy about the game. In fact players of the India cricket team are given the status of gods. Craze for the game is such that you will find the game being played in every nook and corner of the country. If there is any spare space at any place, cricket is the one game that one can find being played there. As far as the Indian cricket team is concerned, this is one team in the world that is always under tremendous pressure, so you can understand how difficult it is to be the part of India cricket team.

The current India team that is taking part in the world cup looks well balanced and if they are able to perform well, the team can well go on to win the world cup. Indian cricket in recent times have been performing well in patches, but the Indian cricket team has not been consistent in their performance. In fact consistent well performance by the team is one thing which has been lacking with the Indian cricket team. The Indian cricket team has been hiring foreign cloches to help them and John Wright was the first foreign coach to be appointed to help the India team. The current coach Greg Chappell of Australia has made use of many new game plans to help the India cricket team to win matches.

The one thing which has been hampering the India Cricket team is their performance outside the sub continent. They play like tigers at home and it is almost impossible for any team to beat them in their own backyard. In fact the former Australian captain Steve Waugh has gone one record team has gone on record saying that India was the final frontier and he would like to capture it before he retires. Sadly Steve has not been able to do this before his retirement. But the bottom line remains that performance of the India cricket team needs to improve drastically when they tour other countries.

The Indian cricket team has won the world cup only once and given the craze that fans have for the game, the team deserves to bring back the world cup. The players of the India cricket team owe this to their fans. The Indian cricket team that has been selected this time to represent the India cricket team in the world cup looks a very balanced side with the right mix of youth and experience. While youngsters like Dhoni, Pathan, Yuvraj and Munaf Patel give the team the much needed aggression and agility. On the other hand player like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid provide the India cricket team with the much needed balance for a cricket team to succeed at the highest levels.

The prospects of many teams in this world cup looks bright like the Indian cricket team. One thing that can work in favor of the India cricket team is the presence of the bets batsman in the world Sachin Tendulkar. Well it is not that every time the India cricket team can boast of having such a great batsman in its team.

Ella Wilson is a cricket fanatic. She simply loves the game and tries to catch live action no matter where she is.At Stickiewicket she works on Online cricket score,Indian Cricket, Fantasy cricket and Cricket News among other things. You can see her works at stickiewicket

Freedom Now: Colonial Rule Is Overthrown in India and Africa

Freedom Now: Colonial Rule Is Overthrown in India and Africa
"When the dawn came [on the day of India's independence], I cannot describe to you how heady that feeling was. It was as though everything was new, the world was new....You felt you could do anything, now that we were free." - Birenda Kaur, India. At the beginning of the century, much of the world's population lived under colonial rule. Britain, Belgium, France, Portugal, all boasted holdings abroad. But in 1947, 160 years of British rule would come to an end as India assumed the mantle of the world's largest democracy, inspiring the fight for freedom on another continent across the globe.

Freedom Now talks to the people who witnessed and participated in the struggle for independence in India and Africa. While Mohandas Gandhi showed the world how the masses could successfully defy their imperial masters, his example spurred others on: European empires in Africa and Asia began to crumble, and in short order, Ghana, Kenya, Algeria, Mozambique, and dozens more would win their freedom.

The people remember: colonial rule, Mohandas Gandhi, Indian independence, Ghana, Kenya, Mau Mau uprisings, government corruption, a new oppression, Algeria, Mozambique.

Delicious Indian Recipes for Cooking Baked Hilsa

Hilsa is the national fish of Bangladesh. Hilsa is an integral part of the Bengali culture. One cannot imagine the monsoon in Bengal without cooking and feeding on fried Hilsa, or Ilish, as it is known in Bengali. It is also associated with religious ceremonies, and purchasing hilsas on soma occasions like on the day of Saraswati Puja is even considered auspicious.

Essentially a sea fish, hilsa caught from the sea are thin and small, and not at all tasty. In the rainy season, the fish swim into the inland rivers to lay eggs, and become fleshy and extremely tasty. Sweet water Hilsa, especially from the river Padma that runs through Bangladesh are believed to be the best in taste.
There are various ways to cook the hilsa. It can be smoked, fried, steamed, baked. Often it is wrapped in young plantain leaves and baked in a steaming pot of rice. It can also be prepared with curd, brinjal or green banana.

Here is a recipe to prepare Hilsa with mustard seeds.

Ingredients needed

Hilsa fish: 500 gm (can be substituted with Salmon, tastes almost the same)

Mustard seed: 5 to 6 teaspoon full

Paste of Green chillies: 6 or 7

Turmeric: half teaspoon full

Oil: 6 to 7 teaspoons

Salt to taste

Procedure

Wash the fish properly. Make a paste of the mustard seeds and mix well with the turmeric and green chilli paste. Coat the fish with this mixture along with the salt and the oil. Marinate for about an hour. Then bake in a microwave for 12 minutes, till tender. Serve hot with cooked rice.

Monitor Your Web Site for Downtime
For those in the Internet business the availability of their web site is a major concern. The cost of downtime for web businesses can amount to $10,000 an hour. And this is without counting the losses caused by missed opportunities and lost sales. Losses in image and credibility these businesses suffer because eventual downtime is even harder to quantify.
Many of today's web hosting providers offer 99% uptime for their web servers. If you have already chosen one or if you are planning to use one with such a high uptime should you be concerned on the whole matter anyway?
Let's see how much 99% uptime means. For a 30-day month you have a total of 720 hours. 99% of this is 712.8 hours. Are you comfortable with your web site taking a day off every month? And this if 99% uptime happens. Can your web hosting provider back up its uptime promises with real facts? How can you tell that?
For companies making business online it might seem a good idea to move their Internet operations in-house. They develop their own infrastructure, hire specialized personnel, only to keep their business online. The cost of such an enterprise would seem rather high for the ones seasoned in the Internet business. Why? Because of the high cost implied: around $20,000 a year, without even thinking of the logistical burden.
The best way to avoid that while ensuring your business is online is to have monitoring reports available on your web host's uptime.
For companies or individuals having their web hosting providers monitored by a third party is a guarantee not only that their money is well spent, but also, an most importantly, that their Internet business is up and running.
Having their services monitored by a third party is beneficial even for the web hosting providers. That is serious web hosting providers. Offering reports of their uptime monitored by a third party and placing links to them on their home page is bound to boost the confidence of existing customers as well as the one of the prospecting customers in the quality of service that host is providing for its customers.
This is a not only a great marketing tool, but also translates to very good customer relationship. This is vital to web hosting providers as the cost of attracting a new customer is from 5 to 10 times higher than the cost of retaining an existing customer.
Having monitoring reports, even better if they are provided by a third party, available on the host's web site is sure to reduce the burden on the technical support center. Many calls to technical support centers from customers regard dial-up problems such as slow connection, download times, web site accessibility or various computer issues that are often related to the personal computer of the customer rather than are problems on the host's side. This is why the number of calls to the tech support center could be reduced up to a third simply by posting the monitoring reports on the hosting provider's web site or by simply providing a link to them.
As shown above, when talking about downtime problems the stakes are high in the Internet business. Disputes regarding the uptime will never be missing between the web hosting provider and its customers, and their resolution is almost every time a delicate issue. This is why independent monitoring provided by a third party can make the resolution of these disputes much easier for the conflicting parties.
Having a web host that provides monitoring of its uptime by a third party is the best guarantee that you can get for your web site's uptime. With such level of service you can be sure that the money you are spending for your web presence can give your or your company the best return of investment.

Rising Real Estate Prices in Chandigarh India

Chandigarh (India) is Beautiful city of the world.
The name Chandigarh was derived from the famous temple called 'Chandi Mandir'. 'Chandi' is the Goddess of Power and 'Mandir' means temple. 'Garh' or fort beyond the temple, the beautiful city 'Chandigarh' name was derived.

Chandigarh is the capital of two states i.e Punjab and Haryana. After independence, India had invited the great architect, Le Corbusier to design the new capital of Punjab, as the earlier capital Lahore had gone to the Pakistan after partition. But, the city does not belong to any of the two states. Now, it is a UT (Union Territory) which means city is administered by the Government of India.

The structure of Chandigarh is divided into sectors or blocks of houses. Each sector has its separate shopping center and well planned parking system. The city is well known for its lush green gardens, parks, well-constructed roads. There are no. of , picnic spots, places to visit and enjoy like Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake, Museums, Art Galleries and many more.

Chandigarh is the India's fastest growing city in the Northern India. The transport and communication facilities in the city are good and effective. The sectors are connected by means of planned transport system and well-constructed roads.

As we all have a brief introduction of the city, Now a question comes in our mind that if one city provides these facilities then what would be its land or real estate prices?. Do you know, these prices are now rising very fast. Why these prices are rising?, What are the reasons behind these risings?, How long will they rise?, What would be the real estate prices in the coming years?. Following are the points that give answers to all these questions:

1) Why real estate prices are not affordable by most of the people? In Chandigarh, there is every class of buyers like big landlords, industrialists, NRI's, traders, well settled doctors and lawyers etc. who are ready to spent 60 lakhs to crores for their dream lands. After purchasing these lands, they have to spent additional amount of 40 - 50 lakhs on construction and renovation to build their dream houses. When these people are ready to buy real estate in any price, they are not bothering the money, then what happens to the ordinary man?

2) Chandigarh is growing very fast in IT field. Chandigarh Technology Park (CTP) is a boom for IT professionals in the city. Many big and multi-national companies like Infosys, Wipro, Convergys, EDC etc. are set up their centers in IT park. Quark is also planning to establish their separate IT city called 'Quark city' in Mohali. Earlier, many professionals had to shift to other places in search of high employment. But, due to advancements in IT sector, the city has become the magnet for professionals. This not only provides high level employment to many professionals but also helps in increase the economy and quality of life in the city. This trend is likely to increase the value of property still more.

3) Increase in the foreign investment has actually fuelled the rising in the real estate prices. Foreign companies in the Chandigarh IT Park are one of its examples. Again, more advance people, less will be the land and more will be the real estate prices.

4) Chandigarh is connected to Punjab, Haryana and even Himachal. The city is greatly influenced by the culture and people of Punjab. Also, It is on the route to the hilly regions of Himachal and towns of Punjab. In daily life, the city is visited by many people. Chandigarh provide all facilities, which can also be one of the reason for adopting more and more people. As the effect, property values in the city are rising.

5) Adjoining areas of Chandigarh like Mohali, Panchkula, Manimajra are developing very fast. They also provide every facility like in the city. People are moving to these places as these are well connected to the city with effective transport facility. More Shopping malls and multiplexes are constructed in various areas. People become broad-minded and more advanced. Their status of living has changed a lot in the past years. They do not prefer to settle in other places.

6) Don't forget the education department of the city. The city has a vast facility of education and every kind of institute. Punjab University and Chandigarh Engineering College are the boom for the local students as well as students from nearby areas. Students have wide opportunities to opt for any institute and make their dreams come true. These students are getting more at one place than what they required or expected.

7) There is no doubt in the fact that it is fastest growing city. Whether engineer, accountant, lawyer, doctor or any professional, they all are attracted by their respective fields as city is providing them full fledge opportunity to show their skills. This professionalism has changed the thinking of the people. If a person is getting full opportunity to show his talent and to explore him at one place, then why would he prefer other places?

8) India's capital, Delhi has developed in every field. With its fast life, Delhi is becoming more and more polluted and crowded day by day. It has easy access to Chandigarh via. road of only 5 hrs drive. People resides in the capital(Delhi), prefer to shift and settle in the city(Chandigarh). More and more people arrival in the city means less and less land is available every year. In the answer, land prices are rising.

9) Chandigarh is well-planned, well-organized and well-maintained city. As this city is full of gardens and pollution free, People who resides here for few months or years and due to some reasons like transfer etc., they have to left the city and find it difficult to reside and settle somewhere else. They not prefer to reside in other place as they feel inferior quality of life as compared to that in UT.

10) Trading is also one of the reason of increasing the land prices. Today, there are around 600 factories, large, medium and small scale units in the city. The industries like electronic goods, food products, plastic products, leather goods and many more can be found in every scale. Obviously, People involved in these types of businesses wants to explore their business. Due to this, they prefer to settle here and in the answer land prices are rising.

Many builders stepped in the real estate business, as an investment they are buying old houses and now selling them at huge profits. High land prices are getting out of reach of the common man. How a man can buy these lands of high prices, which has to work hard to meet three times meals?

If all these things are continuing in the way they are, then you can well imagine what will be the property prices in the coming years? Ordinary man could not even think of purchase the property with unexpected high prices. As a result, Chandigarh will become the city of rich people only.

The Householder - The Merchant Ivory Collection

The Householder - The Merchant Ivory Collection
Merchant Ivory Productions, The Criterion Collection, and Home Vision Entertainment are proud to present The Merchant Ivory Collection

The Householder is the story of a shy, young, underpaid Delhi schoolteacher (Shashi Kapoor) who marries and then, little by little, gets to know his young wife during their first year together. She is a charmer with a mind of her own, yet is as little prepared for marriage as he. Their story is full of a variety of subtle but shining pleasures and charming touches of humor. The characters they encounter are unforgettable, especially his mother-in-law, a tearful tyrant who comes to live with them, and the platitudinous headmaster and obsequious senior master at the school. The wonder of this story derived from the culture of modern, middle-class India is that it is able to transcend national boundaries and relate to the problems common to young couples everywhere. This landmark film also marks the first collaboration between producer Ismail Merchant, director James Ivory, and screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (adapting her acclaimed novel for the screen), a productive artistic relationship that has continued for forty years and produced many award-winning films.

India - Disaster Management Vs Real Estate- The Need to Upgrade Buildings of 2002 Vintage and Older

This may come as a rude shock to many, but the reality is that buildings designed and constructed before 2002 do not even meet the minimum earthquake safety standards prescribed by the Government. The Indian Seismic Building Code was last revised in the year 2002 after many valuable lessons were learned in the aftermath of the devastating Gujarat earthquake of 26 Jan 2001. There were many a committee set up to inquire into the lapses and suggest remedial measures; many international agencies pledged their support and the United Nations contributed both monetarily and by providing technical guidance. The Indian Seismic Code underwent a stringent upgrade so that future catastrophes could be averted. The loss of life and property was colossal and for some time the vast media coverage made one to believe that this was the ?final wake up call?. As time passed the memories once again proved to be short lived and the ?chatpatta? Bollywood news sold more and the mundane ?Earthquake Safety? which was easily ignored especially when it was asking the people to do some thing which they have never done before, ?protect themselves?.

The Government after great deliberations benchmarked ?Life Safety? as the minimum safety standard that all buildings must adhere to. Life safety implies that in case of a major earthquake the total collapse of the building should be prevented. This would help in minimizing casualties. After the earthquake, in case the damage to the building was above a threshold level it could be demolished and rebuilt.

Approximately 59% of the country is vulnerable to earthquakes. The recent seismic activity in the Indian Sub-Continent, including the High-Intensity Indonesia and Muzaffarabad quakes, has rekindled fears at the highest echelons and many initiatives are being revived. The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh himself, chairs the National Disaster Management Authority. President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, raised the issue of ?the need to accelerate research for forecasting earthquakes? to ?prevent heavy damage to the people and property? in his recent Independence Day speech. This is testimony enough as to the seriousness with which the Government is assessing the threat perception of increased seismic activity. With growing economic might, comes greater vulnerability and therefore the need for stringent safeguards.

However mere lip service on what should be done and followed would do little for the country to achieve greater earthquake resilience. Accountability should be the order of the day. Stringent legal provisions to enforce that at least the minimum safeguards must be followed. Public awareness is required to be created through mass advertising so that they can then take the necessary steps to upgrade their buildings. The present day reality makes this a necessity.

Today the responsibility of the Builder/Developer finishes once the possession is handed over. The occupants who are struggling to pay their housing installments are many times in no position to incur further expenditure on structural analysis/evaluation and seismic retrofit. Even if the actual retrofit costs are to be paid by the occupants the builders should provide their existing engineering infrastructure for seismic evaluation of the buildings constructed by them. Once the analysis is done the occupants would then know the expenditure required for upgrading the building to the present earthquake standards.

In many developed and developing countries which lie in the seismically active regions, Building Insurance is mandatory especially high-rise construction. The insurance companies pitch in with quality control and ensure stringent safeguards before they provide the required insurance cover. As an incentive, in case, higher than the minimum safety standards are followed, the insurance premium becomes less, and in cases where even the minimum safeguards are not adhered to, the building simply does not get insured.

Today there exist many earthquake protection technologies which efficiently and effectively protect structures against earthquakes i.e. dampers or energy disasters. These devices are also the most efficient and cost effective way of protecting buildings and have been used on many thousands of buildings around the world. One or the other building which incorporates this technology witnesses an earthquake each day. Ministry of Science and Technology is pitching in its bit by funding a research project for evaluating the effectiveness of such devices.

Sandeep Donald Shah has undertaken Masters in Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics from University of Sheffield, United Kingdoms. He is responsible for operations of Taylor Devices Inc. in all countries of the Indian Sub-Continent through their representative company Taylor Devices (India). More information about the technology can be obtained from taylordevicesindia

BIGSquid RFID: Leading RFID Solution in India

BIGSquid RFID: Leading RFID Solution in India

RFID (pronounced as separate letters) short for radio frequency identification. It is a technology, which uniquely identifies objects automatically using wireless radio communications.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a technique of distantly piling and recovering data by means of devices known as RFID tags. An RFID tag is a little object, like a sticky label, that can be integrated into a product. RFID tags hold antennas to facilitate them to accept and react to radio-frequency inquiries from an RFID transceiver.

What is RFID tags? What are the different RFID tags?

RFID tags are of two types: active RFID and passive RFID. Passive RFID tags dont have their own power supply. The little electrical current stimulated in the antenna by the inward radio frequency scan gives adequate power for the tag to send a rejoinder. Because of power and cost factors, the rejoinder of a passive RFID tag is essentially concise. It is normally just an ID number (GUID). Shortage of its own power supply crafts the device very small. Commercially accessible products exist that can be implanted beneath the skin. The least such devices commercially accessible measured 0.4 mm 0.4 mm, and thinner than a sheet of paper. Such devices are virtually undetectable. Passive tags have practical read ranges that differ from about 10 mm up to about 5 meters. Passive tags are cheap to manufacture.

Active RFID tags, ought to have a power source, and may have longer ranges and larger memories than passive tags, as well as the capability to accumulate additional information sent by the transceiver. The smallest active tags are about the size of a coin. Many active tags have convenient ranges of tens of meters, and a battery life up to several years. While the cost factors of passive tags over active tags are noteworthy, other factors including accuracy and dependability make the use of active tags very common today.

A number of nations have anticipated embedding RFID devices in new passports to ease proficient machine reading of biometric data. The RFID-enabled passport distinctively identifies its holder; in the proposal currently under thought, the RFID tag will also comprise a range of other personal information (More info bigsquid.org)

BIGSquid RFID

BIG Squid RFID is not merely integrating various RFID middleware (tags and readers) with our own products, but we have formed partnerships with other leading companies that enable us to provide supply chain solutions for various clients. BIGSquid RFID provides solutions to various industries like pharmaceutical, manufacturing, textile etc., across the globe.

BIGSquid RFID is similar to bar code technology by automatically collecting information about a product or transaction quickly, easily and without human error. Lets understand some common differences between RFID and Bar Code.

BIGSquid RFID and Bar code are both identification technologies that hold data that is accessed by some type of reader. In actuality, they complement each other very well and can be used effectively side by side in many applications. Bar code is an optical technology and RFID is a radio technology. However, unlike barcode technology, it provides a contact less data link, without need for line of sightfor example articles inside a cardboard boxor concerns about harsh or dirty environments that restrict the use of bar codes. Just like bar code, RFID tags are available with different memory sizes and encoding options. The ways these technologies exchange data account for most of the differences between RFID and bar code and help determine where each identification technology is best put to use. (More info bigsquid.org)

BIG Squid RFID uses an integrated microchip and antenna that reads information. The combination of the chip and antenna is called an RFID tag. There are two types of tags, and therefore two types of systems, active and passive. In passive systems, which are the most common, an RFID reader transmits an energy field that "wakes up" the tag and provides the power for the tag to operate. In active systems, a battery in the tag is used to boost the effective operating range of the tag and to offer additional features over passive tags, such as temperature sensing. The radio waves that are sent back and forth between tag and transmitter contain the data in the tag, and this data is then converted by the reader and transferred into a computer system.
Companies are focusing on passive UHF tags, which costs less than 50 cents today in volumes of 1 million tags or more. Their read range isn't as far -- typically less than 20 feet vs. 100 feet or more for active tags -- but they are far less expensive than active tags and can be disposed of with the product packaging. (More info bigsquid.org)

The Key Components to an RFID System are a number of components including tags of different sizes catering the different industrial needs, RFID readers and system software.

An RFID reader, usually connected to a Personal Computer, serves the same purpose as a barcode scanner. It can also be battery-powered to allow mobile transactions with RFID tags. The RFID reader handles the communication between the Information System and the RFID tag.

The BIGSquid RFID Software collects, permutes and stores the data collected from the tag in a back end like MySQL, SQL Server etc. This is usually similar to any other data collection software.

Monsoon Wedding

Monsoon Wedding
Monsoon Wedding is a return to form for Mira Nair, director of 1988's Salaam Bombay! Nair's gift for observation of the everyday and her love for her characters make for a delightful film, which spins a web of family relationships that knit and break during a wedding at a perfect pace. The excellent performances exceed the often stereotypical roles on offer (including the incomparable Nasiruddin Shah as the harassed father, Kulbhushan Kharbanda as the comic uncle, and Shefali Chaya as the orphaned cousin). Nair's sympathetic eye for the unnoticed and the harassed is at its best with the tender romance between the servant and Dube (Vijay Raaz), the marigold-munching, upwardly mobile wedding coordinator, who brings pathos and humor to the often unseen servant classes. The handheld camera gives a docudrama feel to this celebratory look at the upper-middle-class Hindu Punjabi joint family, while paying tribute to modern Indian public culture of music, television, and, of course, "Bollywood." --Rachel Dwyer

This article takes a brief look at the history or rubber stamps. From Maya indians to scrapbooking today, this short overview of one of the fastest growing hobbies is sure to be a treat for crafter's the world around.

Who would have thought that your scrapbooking and card making had a connection to the Maya Indians? Rubber Stamping is certainly one of the fastest growing hobbies today, and for good reason. With its inexpensive materials and creative versatility, rubber stamping provides millions with hours of fun and creativity. How did it all start?

Spanish explorers were the first to talk about a "sticky substance" that bounced, used by South America Indians. Though it didn't revolutionalize the world at that time, these same Indians were using a primitive form of rubber stamping to "mark and tattoo" images on men and women.

In 1736, Charles Marie de la Condamine, a French scientist studying the Amazon, sent a piece of "India Rubber" back to France.

Rubber got its name in 1770, when the scientist Sir Joseph Priestly made a comment about a substance "excellently adapted to the purpose of wiping from paper the mark of black lead pencil." Hence the "rubbing out" of pencil marks gave it the term "rubber". Up until this time, people wishing to erase pencil marks had to use bread crumbs.

Rubber Stamping owes much gratitude to a hardware store owner who decided to quit his job to solve the "sticky problem" he had heard about. Though his persistence was tested time and again, even filing bankruptcy and going to jail for failure to pay debts, Charles Goodyear eventually discovered that heat was the secret to rubber's "curing".

As early as 1866, a man carved information in a flat piece of rubber and mounted it to a curved block of wood. This 4"x 6" mounted rubber stamp was being used to print information on bath tubs.

Early rubber stamps consisted mainly of words and phrases used to mark packages and manufactured products. Stamping suppliers began to spring up in Ohio and the West.

Rubber stamping as a hobby took off in the early 1970's with companies such as All Night Media (1974) and Hero Arts (1974). Soon the craze had caught and many other companies decided to cash in on a hobby that would last for decades.

It wasn't until a boom in the 1990's that rubber stamping became so popular with millions of crafter's worldwide. As thousands of companies begin to produce rubber stamps, the availability and unique designs become common everywhere! It's no wonder why rubber stamping has turned into a worldwide crafting phenomenon. Women and men alike have found hundreds of creative uses for rubber stamps, from scrapbooking and cardmaking, to gift bags and 3D artwork. Give it a try, you'll see!

Table cloths Napkins Handloom Cotton Block Prints Handmade India(jtc052)

Table cloths Napkins Handloom Cotton Block Prints Handmade India(jtc052)
Block printed table cloths from Rajasthan. Available in a range of sizes and designs, these table cloths are hand-block printed. Printing of cloth with carved wooden blocks is fascinating. The floral motifs favored by the printers of Bagru and Sanganer are Persian in origin, though Sanganeri designs are more sophisticated. They usually have a white or pale background decorated with colorful twigs or sprays. This method, though laborious, is actually quite simple and merely calls for precision. The table cloth is laid out flat on a table or bench and a freshly dipped block is hand pressed on to the fabric to form a continuous, interlocking pattern. The block carries dye if the original color of the cloth has to be preserved. In the resist (usually wax or gum) printing process is applied to the portion of the cloth not to be colored, which is a substance that does not let the dye seep through to the cloth. The rest of the table cloth is colored in the desired shade. Later, the portions, which had remained uncolored, can be individually daubed with color or through the use of blocks of design coated with the color that the dyer wishes to use. Floral and geometric designs are beautifully done on the linen. The boldness of the concept is muted by arranging the pattern repeatedly in many diagonal rows, which is one of the distinctive characteristics of the prints from this area.
